Some fun August pages

For the first time in five years, I am not currently designing projects for anyone but myself! Although I would be lying if I said I hadn't gotten a little lazy not having deadlines, it is nice to be able to do some fun stuff just because. Here are the pages I created for a recent transparency workshop I taught at my house. A great excuse to use some recent vacation photos from a relaxing trip to the Hill Country (courtesy of my amazing in-laws. Thank you!)

One of my favorite kits in a while!!! Love the Fancy Pants winter line, and we had snow just in time for some frosty pictures...

I will always remember this Thanksgiving because of this tent! SuSu bought you and Carolina a play tent and you slept in it while Uncle Markie was with us. He slept in your room. You went to sleep in our room, then daddy would move you to the tent in the living room when we were ready for bed. After you got your room back, you wanted the tent in there to play in. One day at naptime, you said you wanted to “organize” your tent. This is what I found when I went to check on you. Fully decorated, complete with books, Legos, babies, a baseball bobblehead, and even a framed picture of you. Simply priceless. This is one memory I will forever hold dear. 11*09




Texas weather is known for being crazy and unpredictable, but really? On Wednesday, two days before Christmas, it was almost 75 degrees outside. A record high. The weather forecast called for a possibility of a “snow/ice” mix the next day (Christmas Eve,) but that sounded completely ridiculous! Boy, did we not see this coming. This was only the 6th time on record that it had snowed on Christmas Eve in 111 years. The poor Off bottle didn’t know what hit it. This picture is the prefect symbol of Texas weather…mosquito repellant one day and parkas and hats the next! Christmas Eve 2009

When I got this book to work with, I had a hard time going with the theme since I knew it was supposed to be holiday-ish. I guess I need to remind myself more to not get so hung up on what things are "supposed" to be for. After staring at it for weeks, I did a Yahoo search for "light," "shine," and "lyrics" and found this song by Keb Mo. What a great inspiration it was!
